Sculpture 1947
by Richard Lippold
- Used
The brochure for the first gallery showing which included
Five Variations Within a Sphere ( for John Cage ). John Cage was a life long friend and collaborator of Lippold's and these geometric sculptures hung in Gage's Lower East apartment. Single sheet folded in thirds. Interesting pencil notes on rear cover of former owner who obiously viewed the objects in person. A rare ephemeral piece by this important and influential artist. Very good condition with just the touch of age toning.

Description:
1898 HUGE FOLIO 1ed Famous French ART Salon Steel Engravings Painting Beaux-ArtsAt the end of the 19th-century, the Goupil company published one of the most remarkable collections of art known simply as 'The Salon'. Beginning in 1889, this recurring work features the artwork of notable sculptors and painters including artists from the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
This 1898 English edition was collected by Antonin Proust and translated into English by Henry Bacon. The one hundred steel engravings throughout this book are highly desirable and are often extracted to be displayed by themselves; however, this work is fully intact, not lacking any plate. (See photos for a full list of included artists.)
