Bookseller's ticket of Edward Baker of Birmingham to FEP, very occasional light spotting. The first printed edition of an Anglo-Saxon manuscript (preserved in the Cottonian collection) concerning the Christian hermit Saint Guthlac of Crowland (674-714 CE). The life of St. Guthlac was originally written in Latin by one Felix of Crowland, of whom little is known. The renowned Egyptologist Charles Wycliffe Goodwin (1817-1878) here provides the only extant Anglo-Saxon prose version alongside his authoritative Modern English translation of the text and extensive notes. .
