Textblock mildly tanned, with foxing spots throughout, creased on rear leaf. 'The Beloved Captain' is one of four essays lifted by the publisher posthumously from the second series of 'A Student In Arms' by Donald William Alers Hankey, b. 1884 - killed in action on The Somme, October 12, 1916. The additional essays (chapters) in this volume are: 'Of Some Who Were Lost, and Afterwards Were Found' 'The Honour of The Brigade' and 'The Making of a Man'.
