About This Item
London: T. N. Foulis, 1912. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 8" by 5.5". Various. A first edition of Edwin Pugh's volume on Charles Dickens. With thirty illustrations. Edwin Pugh combines biography and literary criticism in this first edition. With thirty illustrations, collated and complete. Although Pugh's melodramatic novels have not stood the test of time, Pugh was also novelist who often focussed on working-class storylines. This fourteen chapter volume includes details about the Victorian author's relationships with Maria Beadnell and Mary Hogarth, and the real people behind some of Dickens' criminal characters. In the publisher's original red cloth binding. Externally, very smart. A little discoloured to the spine, with some marginal wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound, with bright and clean pages throughout. Very Good Indeed
