(price-clipped) [shelfwear to bottom edge, spine slightly turned, one-time owner's initials plus date & place of purchase in ink along edge of rear pastedown (concealed beneath rear jacket flap); the jacket has a ragged closed tear at the upper front hinge, a small piece torn away from the lower right corner of the front panel, edgewear and creasing along the top edge of the front panel, and a little array of scrape marks at the bottom of the rear panel]. One of the author's numerous "Matt Winters" mysteries, in which the New Jersey milkman-cum-amateur sleuth saves a young woman from a suicide attempt, then gets involved with her well-to-do family and its domineering matriarch. .
