About This Item

New York: William Morrow & Company, Inc, 1988. SIGNED by actress Debbie Reynolds directly on the half title page ("Enjoy my Book!" and her signature only, NOT personalized to anyone). SEE OUR PHOTOS. Fine condition in a Near Fine dust jacket (price clipped). The jacket shows just a bit of mild surface rubbing. NO chips, tears, creases or fading. Bright and shiny. Sharp corners. Square and tight. Pages are fresh, crisp, clean and unmarked - apparently seldom, if ever read. NO owner's name or bookplate. NOT a library discard. NOT a remainder. Lavishly illustrated with 48 pages of photos. Bound in the original white boards with an eggshell white cloth spine, stamped in shiny gold. Complete with dust jacket. From Publishers Weekly: "Debbie (nee Mary Frances) Reynolds was born in 1932, grew up poor in Texas and California, was crowned 'Miss Burbank' at age 16. In her memoir, written with freelancer Columbia, the performer strongly resembles 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown,' one of her notable film roles. She is ebullient, feisty and outspoken in revelations about herself and others. She recalls, for example, that as a 19-year-old raw talent in 1951 she had to endure Gene Kelly's furious complaints of her ineptness while filming the classic Singin' in the Rain. But she treasures memories of Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra and other luminaries, even the oft-maligned 'Mr. Mayer' of MGM. Eddie Fisher, who deserted her and their children to wed Elizabeth Taylor, is dealt with harshly. So is Harry Karl, the actress's second husband who, she maintains, squandered all his money and hers, leaving her to pay staggering debts. But the 'unsinkable' here assures her fans that she is now happily married and still performing as a singer, comedienne, dancer and actress on stage, TV and in night clubs... Copyright 1988 Reed Business Information, Inc." Reynolds is the mother of Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia.. SIGNED by the AUTHOR. Hardcover. Fine condition/Near Fine dust jacket. Illus. by NOT a library discard. 8vo. 446pp. . Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
