Boston: Lothrop, Lee & Shepard Co.. Very Good. 1910. Hardcover. Rebecca Sophia Clarke (1833 1906), also known as Sophie May, was an American author of children's fiction. She authored 45 books portraying children in a realistic way, using her nieces as inspiration. There were six books in the Dotty Dimple series, all first published between 1868 amd 1869 by Lee & Shepard. This copy is a later 1910 printing by Lothrop, Lee & Shepard. Original publisher's red picotrial cloth covers with white and black spine and cover lettering and decoration. There is light sunning to the spine, a small previous owner's name on the bottom of the front free end paper, and a light crease to the top corner of the first few pages, else this is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates. Ten pages of ads in the rear listing all of her books.; Little Folks Books Series; B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 171 + 10 pages .
