George Harrap, 1915. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Reid, Stephen; et al. 270pp. 16 plate illustrations, plus maps, charts etc. Quarter bound in green cloth over calfskin leather. Elaborately decorated in gilt gold. Six faux panels to spine, with gilt titles and further decoration. Illustrated endpapers. 8vo. Boards a little rubbed around edges and corners, leather drying. Lending sheet on front endpaper but no other library markings. Internally bright, crisp and clean barring white mark on endpaper. Sixteen chapters, each one dedicated to one of the world's great sea explorers - John Cabot, Christopher Columbus, Vespucci, Verazzano, Cartier, etc. Handsome, evocative volume.
