About This Item

New York: Rizzoli, 2002. First edition. Hardcover. Very good (covers lightly soiled, faded). Oelbaum, Zeva. 96p, many photos printed in sepia duotone. Instead of a jacket, a sheet with information about the book is mounted to the rear cover, as issued. Oelbaum was inspired by a student teacher's century-old botany journal that she found in Maine. "By layering the original journal pages, using natural light to bring out the subtle textures of the pressed plants and paper, then photographing them, she has created a memorable collection of botanical images." Foreword by Orlean, captions with details about the specimens by Stein.
