An early edition of this charmingly illustrated work presenting the author's travels around the United Kingdom in the late 19th Century. Bound in half calf with cloth to the boards.Copyright edition. First published in 1892. Written and illustrated by British illustrator and writer, Harry Furniss, who was best known for his contributions to 'Punch' magazine and for illustrating 'Sylvie and Bruno' by Lewis Carroll.'Flying Visits' presents the author's thoughts during his extensive travels around the United Kingdom for his 'The Humours of Parliament' tour. Furniss travelled seven thousand miles in sixteen weeks, jotting down his impressions of different areas as he passed them. Furniss also included extracts from letters to a friend, sent during his travels. Illustrated with one-hundred-and-thirty-three monochrome vignettes by the author. In half calf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd mark to boards. A touch of fading to the spine and a little chipping to the spine label. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
