Description

New York: Skyhorse Publishing, 2016. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. Presentation copy, inscribed by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to Eric Idle on the verso of the front flyleaf: "Eric- Monty Python played a key role in Michael's exoneration- Bobby Kennedy". Octavo: xxxii, 288 p. with numerous photographs (most color) and endpaper maps. Original black paper-covered boards, with gilt titles. Some minor edgewear to the dust jacket; otherwise very good. From the library of revered English actor, comedian, musician, and writer Eric Idle, accompanied by a letter of provenance. Idle (b.1943) is a founding member of the British comedy troupe Monty Python, as well as the parody rock group The Rutles, and is the writer of the music and lyrics for the hit Broadway musical Spamalot. In a posting for his Eric Idle Online! blog concerning this book, Idle wrote: "Robert F. Kennedy sent me this, because, unbelievably, the murder of Martha Moxley took place during the first ever broadcast of Monty Python's Flying Circus on PBS in 1975 and several of the protagonists were racing home to watch it. More importantly, I was convinced by this book that a major injustice took place, prodded by Dominick Dunne and Mark Fuhrman the OJ Cop, when Michael Skakel was suddenly accused of and shockingly convicted of the murder three decades later, despite never having been a suspect and having a cast iron alibi. I think he is out now. I hope so.
