A bright first trade edition of this collection of portraits of George Meredith's heroines by Herbert Bedford. The first trade edition of this work, published simultaneously as a first limited edition. Containing a series of twenty miniatures in colour by Herbert Bedford, composer, author, and miniature painter. Collated, complete. Illustrative of the heroines from George Meredith's works. Portraits of Lucy and Mrs Bella Munt from The Ordeal of Richard Feverel, Caroline, Louisa, and Rose Jocelyn from Evan Harrington, and Sandra Belloni from Sandra Belloni among others. In the original publisher's full cloth binding with titles in gilt to front board and spine and miniature colour illustration to front board. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, lightly bumped to head and tail of spine and extremities, back strip darkened. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with minor spotting to frontispiece tissue guard and minor age toning to occasional leaf, particularly to pages facing leaves of plates. Very Good Indeed
