About the author

S.K. Radhakrishnan practiced as a physical therapist in India before coming to the United States. After thirteen years as a contract physical therapist, he underwent physician assistant training at Wayne State University. The Wayne State University PA Program Faculty selected him as one "who is most likely to achieve clinical excellence while advancing the ethics & standards of the profession" and presented him with the "Professionalism Award" for the Class of 2004.

He was accepted into the Duke Postgraduate PA Surgical Residency Program, and after successful completion, began his career as a neurosurgical PA for Dr. Allan Friedman in the Department of Neurosurgery. Shortly thereafter, he was invited to be a guest lecturer for the Duke PA students.

In 2006, he was a recipient of the Duke Strength, Hope and Caring Award for the extraordinary provision of compassionate care for patients. In April 2018 he received the Meritorious Service Award for distinguished service to Duke. He currently serves as the administrative chief and clinical neurosurgical PA in the Department of Neurosurgery.

His volunteered contributions include work with Special Olympics and Duke Global Health's neurosurgery mission to Uganda.
