The uncommon first edition of American writer Gordon MacCreagh's account of his travels in Abyssinia and Ethiopia in the early twentieth century. Discussing the political situation in Ethiopia, its traditions and its customs, along with chapters on birds and animals, 'witchcraft and werewolves', and 'slavery under the league of nations'.Illustrated with thirty-one plates of photographs, each double sided and containing a number of images. Collated, complete.With the bookplate of Anglo-Swiss financier Clinton E. Geiser to the verso of the front free endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, excellent, with fading to back strip and rubbing to back strip head and tail. Hinges starting, with boards holding firm. Front and rear free endpapers lacking. Bookplate to verso of half title. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good
