Toronto:: McClelland & Stewart,, (1973). Hardcover first edition -. Near fine (lower corners slightly bumped) in a good only dust jacket with overall rubbing and edgewear, some foxing to the verso of dj, original price of 5.95 on dj flap) .. First printing. The scarce true first edition of this book by a British Columbia journalist which recounts the bizarre murder spree of Dale Merle Nelson, a Canadian logger, who - reportedly under the influence of LSD - murdered eight of his neighbors - during one night in September 1970, as well as inflicting upon them acts of mutilation, necrophilia, and cannibalism. Despite the sensationalism of the crime, this is a serious look at how well the justice system deals with such events, and how it fails us in these cases. Nelson was deemed sane by state psychiatrists and sentenced to life. Map. 190 pp.
