Gerald Leinwand (Born: August 27, 1921, Williamsburg, New York, NY, Died: January 30, 2015) was an educator who championed public education and believed in the power of education to
better peoples' lives. He is the author of over 40 books including High Tide of the Twenties, The Pageant of World History,
a high school textbook in publication for 35 years and in use throughout the United States.
Gerald Leinwand was president emeritus of Western Oregon University and founding dean of
the school of education at Bernard Baruch College of the City University of New York.
