Henry Hammond was a 17th-century English royalist preacher known for his commentary and edition of the Bible. He also wrote numerous sermons and tracts. One of his best but lesser-known works was 'A Paraensis' – a defense of the Church of England and subsequent attack on the Catholic Church and its heresy. It contains prayers and reverent liturgies as well commentary on the original Greek texts from the Bible.
