About This Item
London: The Hogarth Press, 1956. First edition. Cloth. Fine/Very Good Indeed. 9" by 5.5". None stated. The first edition of this autobiographical work by author, actress and suffragette Elizabeth Robins, in the original scarce dust wrapper. The first edition. In the publisher's original cloth with the scarce unclipped dust wrapper. Illustrated with a monochrome frontispiece and fifteen monochrome plates. Collated complete. A scarce work. This autobiography was written by Elizabeth Robins, a actress, novelist and suffragette, with a foreword by Leonard Woolf who helped to get the work published due to Robins' friendship with his wife, Virginia Woolf. The work details the life of herself and her brother, Raymond Robins. The publication of the autobiography was delayed due to her brother's request that it be published after his death, as he did not approve the work. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally lovely with only minor offsetting to the endpapers. The wrap is very smart with sunning to the spine and rear, minor edge wear and two very small closed tears to the head of the spine. Offsetting to the verso. Internally firmly bound with clean and age toned pages. Fine
