About This Item
New York: G.W. Dillingham Company, 1905. Hardcover. Illustrations by F.R. Gruger. 12mo. Red cloth with ivory and gilt lettering. 257pp. Tissue-guarded frontispiece, 11 full-page called-for plates, small line drawings. Very good. Binding slightly sunned and with ivory/gilt spine lettering gone, else boards are bright with all lettering pristine; internally tight and fine. A handsome first edition of Shute's fifth book, one of several "Real Boy" Huck Finn-ish collections that brought this prolific lawyer/judge/author (1856-1943) to national attention. A superb copy, tight and nice.
