Special "Hawaiian" edition with a tipped-in signed leaf also reproducing the title page of Archibald Campbell's book which is the basis of this book, of a Scottish sailor's adventures in the Pacific, including shipwreck in the Aleutian islands and some time spent in the Sandwich Islands, now Hawaii. Porteus, an Australian psychologist (designer of the Porteus Maze tests) who became Dean of the University of Hawaii's psychology department, wrote many books, both fiction & non-fiction, on Hawaiian history, psychology, and his controversial ideas of human intelligence. Hardcover in jacket, as pictured; stated first edition (first printing), listing no additional printings. Light wear to book, corners rubbed; jacket rubbed & chipped with some foxing, spine a bit faded. Text clean; [x], 257 pages. . Signed by Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. Octavo.
