Sampson Low, Marston & Co, 1883. First Edition. Hardcover. 227 pages. Thomas Newbigging (1833-1914) was Scottish engineer, writer and historian and an authority on gas engineering. First edition (first printing). Near fine copy in black leather covers with 4 gilt and blind-framed raised bands on spine. Gilt stamped harp, horn and laurel motif on central front cover. AEG. Mild scuffing at edges. Free endpapers with foxing. Pencil signature '__ Newbigging / 1883' on title page (appears done in haste, uncertain if by author).
