A smart copy of the ninth edition of John MacGregor's travelogue, in a full calf prize binding from the Albert Memorial College. The ninth edition of this work, illustrated with a frontispiece, folding map, and numerous vignette illustrations.A travelogue from Scottish explorer, travel writer and philanthropist John MacGregor, credited with the development of the first sailing canoes, and with popularising canoeing as a sport in Europe and the United States. MacGregor travelled with his canoe, the 'Rob Roy', nicknamed after his renowned relative, the Scottish outlaw and folk hero.With a prize bookplate from the Albert Memorial College to the front pastedown, dated 1878. In a full calf prize binding, with gilt detailing. Fading to spine, with rubbing to back strip head and tail and joints. Hinges strained, but firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, but generally clean and bright. Very Good
