Boston: Small, Maynard, 1918. 296p, Signed by the author on the title page. From the library of Martha Howey Melissa with her bookplate. Churchill was the wife of an American army officer who worked as an agent for the American Fund for the French Wounded. She depicts French life under the hardships of the war but also of the resilient spirit of those who tried to carry on in spite of shortages and the massive losses of life and incapacitates. Some occasional soiling on some of the pages but an important examination of life on the French home front. Bound in brown cloth lettered and decorated in black and gilt, spine lettering gilt.
