Top cover has woodcut of sphinx, back cover is light blue. Cover has minimal wear and corners are good, there is a light pink stain along the lower edge of the back cover and some light soiling along the top edge. The binding is sound. Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown. Pages otherwise clean and unmarked. Top edge of textblock is slightly darkened from dust. Smith E-98. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 99 pages .

Paris: Gauthier-Villars. Very Good+. 1879. First Edition. Soft cover. Publisher's grey paper wraps with light toning at edges and on spine, minor wear at edges. There is a light crease on rear cover and a small rubbed area lower rear edge near spine. The text block is uncut and unopened. Leipzig: Armanen Verlag. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1934. Hardcover. Black cloth spine with gilt lettering which is unworn but no longer bright. Brown paper over boards, lower corners bumped but otherwise very minimal wear. Binding sound. Front free endpaper has a very neat inscription in black ink titled "Kriegsweihnachten-1943" followed by a unit designation "....Sturmkompanie-Paris", and lower down on the page the signature block and signature of the company commander. Kriegsweihnachten (war Christmas) was an important celebration in the German and other armies and was formally celebrated with a dinner and exchange of gifts. This book may have been such a gift. The author, Karl Boemer was Leiter der Presseabteilung des Aussenpolitischen Amtes of the Nazi party.
