Description:
Leipzig: Felix Meiner, 1925. First Edition . Soft cover. Very Good/No Dust Jacket. First edition off-print of Sigmund Freud's autobiography, inscribed on the top cover, "Seimen lieben / O. Pfister / Freud / 12.2.25." The book is further inscribed by Pfister on the blank recto of the frontispiece, " Seimen lieben Freunde / Prof. R. Brandt / In herzlicher Gesinnung / Zurich 24.4.55." Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis. Oskar Pfister (1873-1956) was a Swiss Lutheran minister and lay psychoanalyst born in Zurich, Switzerland. He is perhaps best known for applying psychoanalysis to the science of education, as well as a belief system combining psychoanalytic psychology and theology. In Zurich, he was in close intellectual proximity to Eugen Bleuler and Carl Jung. The friendship between Freud and Pfister is well documented, lasting over 30 years and only ending upon Freud's death. Less is known about Professor Brandt,… Read More
