This edition is limited to 250 copies for England and one hundred twenty-five copies for the United States of which this is number 18 of the English issue. SIGNED by Arthur Rackham. Color pictorial endpapers. Eight full page color illustrations and numerous in black and white. Some light foxing. Vellum cover a bit bowed. A very nice copy of a beautifully illustrated book.

Chicago: Maud Gage Baum, 1907. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Bound in 3/4 brown calf with tan textured boards. Gilt lettering to spine. 181 pages. Edited by Frank Baum with "a note to the editor". Title in red & black. Tipped in photograph frontispiece of the author. Sixteen photogravures after photographs mostly taken by Frank Baum. "This is copy #16. of a few copies of this book privately printed. It is presented to Mrs. H.P. Caldwell with the affectionate regards of the author, ' Here signed by Maud Gage Baum and dated 12/25/07. Some light spotting to spine and some scuffing at corners. These are Maud's letters from Europe issued for private circulation. Extremely rare. In 1906, because of Frank's literary successes and the profitable royalities from the 1902 Wizard of Oz musical, Maud and Frank were wealthy enough to travel aroiund Egypt, Greece, Italy, North Africa, Switerland and France on a sixth month expedition. This work was published in modest quantity for friends and family.

This is copy #515 of 750 copies SIGNED by Edmund Dulac. Twenty-eight color tipped in plates. A fine copy of one of Dulac's best books. Brown tie detached and laid in book. A bit of toning to the endpapers.

London: Constable & Co. Ltd,, 1927. Limited ed. Hardcover. Near Fine. Folio. Dark blue cloth. Gilt lettering to cover and spine. This edition is limited to 129 copies of which 120 copies are for sale. This is copy #34 and is signed by Norman Lindsay. Forty-five fabulous reproductions of original etchings have been made under the supervision of Mr. F.J. Newbery of the Chiswick Press. Scarce.

The Humboldt Publishing Co.,: The Humboldt Publishing Co.,, 1890. First American edition. Wraps. Good. Wrappers. Translated from the third German edition & edited by Frederick Engels. Four issues in the Humboldt Library of Science Series. These issues are 135, 136, 137 and 138 and are dated September 1, 1890 - October 15, 1890. This is a pirated edition and is the first edition printed in America of the first volume of Capital. The first "official" American edition was published 1889 by Appleton & Co. NY as a re-issue of the 1887 London edition with sheets supplied by a London company with a new title page and was actually printed in Scotland. There was also a hardcover edition published around the same time, precedence unknown. Spines and covers are taped and have chips missing. The third issue has three small holes through the cover and the first 21 pages of text which has done some damage to text. A rare set in any condition.

Covici, Friede, 1928. Limited Edition. Full Leather. Near Fine. Quarto. Sumptiously bound in full green morocco with gilt design to front cover and spine as well as gilt lettering to spine. Silk doublures. Three raised bands. 308pp. Full page black and white illustations. This is one of thirteen special copies SIGNED on half title page by Bulliet. There is a full page watercolor drawing SIGNED by artist Alexander King opposite page one. The illustration is an image of two semi-naked men in drag. One holding a mirror while the other man applies lipstick. Except for some edge wear at bottom of covers, this is a beautiful copy.

Presentation copy signed to the previous owners by B. F. Skinner "Fred Skinner" in red ink. Bookplate has been roughly removed from the rear fixed endpaper. Front flap of the jacket is clipped at stop and bottom. Fading to jacket spine. Some edgewear to jacket.

First issue "help" for helped on line 4 page 257. This is a signed presentation copy on front endpaper, "For Edward Eberhardt this book begins in 1912 and ended in 1914. The M.S. of which rests in the Library of Congress. W. Somerset Maugham. April 1946.". Spine has been professional rebacked with pieces replaced. There is some ink marking at bottom of half-title page; some of which has been erased. Two lines of ink on blank page following front free endpaper.

Octavo. ix [1] 309pp. With fold-out map of "The country inhabited by the Western Tribes of Indians". Bound in 3/4 red leather, with marble boards and endpapers. Five raised bands, and gilt lettering to spine. Binding is tight. Scuffing to spine and edges of the boards. Small pin-hole gouge to spine. First London edition, published in Philadelphia the same year. Known as the Lewis and Clark "Apocrypha". An unauthorized reproduction reprinting President Jefferson's 1806 report to congress, letters of Clark to his brother and Governor W. H. Harrison, as well as a plagiarized combination of the accounts of Jonathan Carver's "Adventures", Sergeant Patrick Gass' journals (published in 1807), and Alexander Mackenzie's 1789 "Voyages". Coues has stern words for this work: "Not a word of this audacious forgery is by or from Captain Lewis" and calls it a "dishonest patchwork", and various portions… Read More

Bound in full black leather, gilt design, lettering, and foredges. Illustrated with 250 numbered lithographs, including 2 maps, some colored by David Roberts after lithographs by Louis Haghe. Vols I-II: Plates 1 - 87, Vol. III - IV: Plates 88-168, Vol. V-VI: Plates 169-250. Rubbing to the edges of the boards. Plates 199 and 200 have the bottom ~ 1 cm trimmed off, this does not effect the image. New endpapers. Foxing throughout. This is the quarto edition done after the very scarce elephant folio original, with the plates reduced photographically.

A bit of rubbing to edges. Previous owner's bookplate (Deatherage) on front fixed endpaper of each volume. Some scuffing to the spines. Crane's best work.

Two additional original color lithographs: the cover in three colors and decorating the first page of the main text (p.15) in two colors. 57 additional reproductions of paintings, including 1 in color.
