Interior color lithographs are very bright and crisp. In this early edition, illustrations were lithographed on stone in five colors, resulting in extremely vibrant color printing. Printings after 1957 did not use the stone lithograph process. The 75th anniversary reprint also made some changes to the illustrations to reflect changing attitudes towards race.
