Folder illustrated with a Vorticist design by Lewis. Heavily marked, stained and darkened, edges rubbed, slight area of loss to paper cover to top edge of upper cover, a series of tiny prickmarks to upper cover, staples rusted. One of 200 copies (though Pound & Grover speculate that perhaps only fifty copies of the folder were made). Engraved additional title- page, full-page engraved portraits of Erasmus, Holbein the Elder and Holbein the Younger, engraved transcription of Erasmus' memorial stone, & 81 illustrations (6 mounted and folding), all (with the possible exception of 3 or 4) engraved by Caspar Merian from drawings by Holbein found in Oswald Myconius' copy of the 1515 Froben edition. Contemporary vellum backed boards, spine with leather label. Covers a little rubbed at edges. Graesse II, 495; Brunet II, 1037. An edition of Erasmus's Praise of Folly, with marginal commentaries by Gerhard Lister, and with the earliest engraved reproductions, which are based on Holbein's drawings in the Froben 1515 edition. A biography of Holbein is followed by a catalogue of sixty of his works, indicating their locations at that time.

Born in Naples in 1933, Guido Biasi studied at the Artistic High School and at the College of Fine Arts in his hometown. In 1954 he became a member of Movimento di Pittura Nucleare (Nuclear Painting Movement) and in 1957 he signed the Abisola Marina Manifesto with Colucci, Piero Manzoni, Sordini and Verga. Two Volumes contained in a slip case, Limited edition, number 67 of 135 copies. The book is illustrated with 8 etchings by Anthony Gross, with another set of the eight etchings, all signed, printed on hand made paper, housed in a box, loose as issued . Both folios are bound in buff cloth with brown morocco spines and lettered in gilt. There is a slight circular indentation on the last blank leaf to the book, the odd brown fox mark, otherwise a very good copy.

London: Dean & Son 65 Ludgate Hill, 1865. Hardcover. Very Good +. Large 8vo.Not dated but circa 1865. Bound in a printed coloured upper board, cloth spine, rear board printed in black on buff/ yellow paper with a list of Dean's ‘Little Plays, for Little People’. Illustrated with eight full page hand-coloured woodcuts. The page following the last of the illustrations contains a printed face of the "jolly old man" about an inch high which penetrates right through the book to the front cover, the faces of the woodcuts being cut away . Beneath each plate is a rhyming verse about the activities of the Jolly Old Man. Additional publisher's advertisements are on the green endpapers.Pages are misbound, the collation is 1,2,3,4,7,8,5,6. Boards are soiled with rubbed corners and edges; inner hinge looks as if it has been strengthened as there is a little glue residue. Not dated but circa 1865.Bound in a pictorial colour printed on yellow /buff paper with orange paper on rear printed in black with adverts for 'Dean & Son's Coloured Sixpenny Books' Illustrated with eight hand coloured wood engraved pictures that can be moved with a tab. Like most of these books, this does have issues. There is foxing throughout the book; many of the tabs are new but do work and the tab holes have repaired tears; I think two cats head have been replaced on page 2; I think a cats head has been replaced on page 8; the cover is worn especially the corners, else an acceptable copy of a scarce book.

A very good set in contemporary bindings.
