INSCRIBED in English by Mishima: "To Yutaka (Kosaihira) with the best wishes of Yukio Mishima April 69." Kosaihira is one of the bodybuilders photographed in the volume. This is a fine book in a price clipped very good plus DJ with several small edge chips/tears top. Mishima's signature has become very scarce on the market in recent years.. This book, now of noted rarity, was self-published by the authors in Nashville. It is Allen Tate's first book. Both authors were active members of the Southern or Fugitive Agrarians and contributed to I'll Take My Stand: The South and the Agrarian Tradition. The Golden Mean was written as a parody of T. S. Eliot's The Wasteland. The cover of the book has some toning around the extremities, a very small 1/2" tear top of spinal fold and very light edge wear. Contents bright. Tall, heavy 4to. xx, 612 pp. With fifteen hand-colored plates by J. Smit (each with a printed tissue guard) and numerous photogravure illustrations by E. Caldwell and others. 3/4 black leather binding with green cloth; 5 raised spinal bands. Many of the most noted big game hunters of the time contributed towards this defining work of African hunting, including Harry Johnston, and F. C. Selous. The major contributor was noted naturalist, Richard Lydekker. Ex library (Museums Trustees of Kenya) with appropriate canceled stamps. The binding is very tight with some rubbing of the leather at the extremities. Scattered foxing on the plates as is typical, else this is a very good book. Scarce.. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. This incredible work comprises the meticulous records of approximately 92 surgical cases from Dr. Goff s practice, compiled for his application for Fellowship in the American College of Surgeons (original letter laid in). As noted he prepared the histories on typewritten paper, the photos on special thick stock, and had the collection beautifully bound in 3 volumes. Arcadia was begun by Sidney in 1583 and not published until 1590. His sister, Countess of Pembroke, divided the work into five books instead of the original three. It went through a number of subsequent printings. This, the 1638 edition, contains a second supplement to the third book by Ja. Johnstoun.
