Description:
Brunswick, GA: Reagin Publishing Company, 2000. First Edition. . Hardcover. Fine/None Issued. F/0/1st. Ed. /Signed. It has been more than forty years since the last compilation of the cemetery records of McIntosh County was issued. The Cemetery Records of McIntosh County, Georgia, compiled in 1958 by Mrs. Evie White, unfortunately has proved to be only of marginal use as a reference for genealogists and other researches, as it does not include all of the white cemeteries of the county, nor does it include any of the African-American cemeteries. With the completion of the present study, compiled and published under the auspices of the Lower Altamaha Historical Society, McIntosh County now has its most comprehensive collection of cemetery records to date. The present effort includes all McIntosh County cemeteries, black and white, with recorded burials dating from colonial times to the present. Book Condition is Fine; green buckram over boards with gold lettering to front and spine. 393pp. First… Read More

Tickner & Fields, acknowledging receipt of $50 as payment for his article on Hofwyl appearing in Atlantic Magazine that month, a fond history of his years at Hofwyl school, the independent self-governing private college in Switzerland to which Owen credited the molding of much of his character and philosophy. In addition to his notorious involvement with social reforms, Robert Dale Owen served in the Indiana legislature and the U.S. House Of Representatives (1843 to 1847), where he introduced and secured passage of the bill to establish the Smithsonian Institution, for which he was appointed to its first board of regents. 311 Pages. Inscribed and signed to Oliver Hawkins by the Editor/Author and dated May 23, 1918.This gem of a book reveals a lot about the President, Woodrow Wilson, and about the events surrounding his Presidency through his numerous speeches. The book's exterior comes in reddish-brown boards with black lettering on them. The exterior has light wearing on all four corners, worn areas at the top and bottom of the spine, and very small wearing marks on the rear cover. The interior of the book has a worn area between the inside front cover and the first page, but otherwise, other than the Editor/Author's inscription and signature, has no further visible extraneous markings or other distractions throughout the book, and thus all printing is in a very well-preserved and enjoyable condition and the bindings remain sound and tight. If you order this book from us it will be carefully wrapped up, padded, and then boxed and then sent right away to you and will come with our genuine gratitude for your interest and… Read More

Minor scuffing to dust jacket, and faint toning to front free endpaper, one-inch bookshop sticker to rear paste-down endpaper, else fine in fine dust jacket.. A fine copy of the third book published by William F. Buckley Jr. (1925-2008). Up From Liberalism was published in 1959 following the publication of Buckley's controversial and influential God and Man at Yale: The Superstitions of "Academic Freedom" (1951), which he wrote at twenty-five as a trenchant critique of Yale University's collectivist and secularist curriculum, and McCarthy and His Enemies: The Record and its Meaning (1954), co-authored with his brother-in-law, L. Brent Bozell, in defense of Senator McCarthy's public crusade against Communism. After publishing his first two works, Buckley founded National Review in 1955, serving as editor-in-chief until 1990 and establishing the magazine as a leading source for American… Read More

Description:
This is the 1846 reprint of the book oriiginally published in 1832. It contains two titles: "The Backwoods of Canada..." by Cathrine Parr Strickland Traill (243 pages), and "The Oregon Territory..." by Rev. C. G. Nicolay (226 pages). It has been rebound in leather and is in excellent condition. The cover is 'like new' except for a bump at the front top edge. The pages are predominantly without marks, tears or folds. Some light to moderate foxing on relatively few pages. The exception is the "Backwoods..." title page which is loose, stained, has a small tear, and a library name impressed on the page. There are 12 high quality engravings throughout "Backwood..". We found two [one a map] in "The Oregon Terratory.." that are also in excellent condition. Catherine Parr Trail was an English/Canadian auther and naturalist who wrote about life in Canada. She wrote 24 books covering topics ranging from her life as a settler in Ontario to natural history, especially botany. Traill is considered a pioneer of… Read More

He also challenges the claim that the reservations failed, documenting how they functioned perfectly well for two years until the state of California succeeded in getting the treaties rejected as usurping states' rights.
