Very Good Plus, small tear to cloth at spine, light soiling to boards. From the library of noted German conductor Helmuth Wolfes, former conductor of the Berlin State Opera, his signature in ink at half-title page. Basis for 5 films between 1918-1952. The 2nd book in the Frank Braun trilogy, in which " Braun uses artificial insemination to breed from the dregs of society - by impregnating a whore with the semen of an executed criminal - the eponymous soulless female whose name reflects in German her likeness to a mandrake root, and whose vampirical powers prove almost fatal to the Ubermensch experimenter".
