Title page of each volume includes an original engraving by Goethe. This is the first edition, with the engraved titles bearing no imprint. Edited by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Johann Heinrich Merck. One of the rarest works in the history of German literature. CONDITION: Near fine in period full brown calf, spines with light brown morocco labels, all edges stained red. An exceptional copy, has only slight wear.2 Engravings By Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe.
