Blue reading ribbon. Owner's bookplate to front pastedown of each volume. Volume 1 has cracked hinge but still holding; remainder of binding is secure in all 3 volumes. Light foxing marks to preliminaries with a few pin prick size foxing marks outside of text block. Pages remain clean, bright without tears or folds. Light rubbing and wear to boards and edges. Minstrelsy marked Scott's true literary debut, written and published as a collection of the traditional ballads that Scott had been collecting in yearly trips to the Borders since 1792.

A lovely selection of poems by William Butler Yates published in this format for the first time in 1929 including some previously unpublished material. There is an illustration of Yeats from an engraving by Sargent on the title page. Blue cloth covered boards with embossed decoration to the front, gilt lettering to the spine and gilt top edges to the pages. In clean and sound condition apart from a rust mark from a paper clip to the top of the page between the front free end paper and the half title page. The erratum slip is present. Slight wear / bumping to the edges of the boards. Included with this copy is a hand-written letter on "The Nation" letterhead requesting a review of the book and signed by Frank Gallagher of Irish nationalism fame. Third edition (published two months after the October 1917 first edition and identical to it in every respect bar a single tiny textual correction to the printer's imprint). 8vo. 63pp. Paper-covered boards with a slightly rubbed and tanned paper spine label. Tissue-protected photographic portrait frontispiece of the author taken by Duncan Williams. Spine ends and corner tips a little rubbed, and with several small areas of surface abrasion. A little light spotting and browning to the endpapers. A very good copy. Sixty-four poems, a swift reprint of the author's first regularly published collection of verse (the first edition of October 1917 was in the press when Thomas was killed in France). Hardcover bound in early full leather with gilt rolls on the edges of the covers and some gilt designs and a burgundy leather label on the spine. The binding is worn but sound. A small paper label is affixed near the foot of the spine. Front hinge starting. The binding is a bit mottled, as if it were covered in some glossy treatment which is partly rubbed away. Early library bookplate on the front pastedown is crudely torn away, exposing some board beneath. An early price is written upside-down on the rear pastedown. Endpapers foxed; text is toned. A wonderful book and this copy is one of an unspecified but limited number signed in pencil by both the artist and the poet, at the front endpaper. Book and dustjacket both in superb condition, presents as a like-new copy.

One of 50 copies, this out of series but inscribed by the author to, and with two letters to, the writer Carl Eric Bechhofer Roberts (known as Ephesian) and with his bookplate to the front pastedown endpaper. Two letters relating to black masses are loosely inserted, one is hand written and simply signed A, and another, typed on two sheets, is signed by Mather's wife Rosamond. A very good copy in the marbled paper covered boards with black letering to the spine. In the original dustwrapper which is darkened to the spine but has done it's job of keeping the book in nice condition.
