Octavo. xiii, 448pp. Ownership signature (in one hand) of Jean and George Houser on the front fly (see below). Binding cocked and page edges lightly foxed, very good in modestly worn, very good or better dust jacket with a tiny tear at the crown. Inscribed to the Housers on the half-title by either Henderson or his wife Muriel ("Ki"): "To George + Jean from Ki + Larry Feb. 1993." Henderson was a scholar as well as missionary; he has written a history of conflict in Angola, published by Cornell University Press, "which deals extensively with the brutality of Portuguese colonial policies and institutions" (from the finding aid for his papers at New Hampshire). George Houser was a minister, Civil Rights activist, and activist for the independence of African nations. In 1942, with James Farmer and Bernice Fisher, he co-founded the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) in Chicago.
