In a rural Minnesota one-room schoolhouse in 1913, a beautiful country schoolteacher is the victim of an armed attack by a crazed ex-boyfriend. 16 children witness the shooting inside and outside of the building. The teacher was hit by 6 bullets out of the total of 16 shots fired. An aspiring young doctor who removes 4 of the bullets from the teacher fights his attraction to her and holds to the standards of professional ethics. The teacher wants nothing to do with a personal relationship with any man after what has happened to her. One bullet is impossible to remove, and the teacher is confined to a wheelchair. Will she walk again? Can this most promising young surgeon put his feelings aside to help his patient heal from the damage done to her? Can a happy ending ever come from this tragedy? Only God has the answer. Roger Quam lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He enjoys gardening, writing, classical music, Bible study and drinking lots of coffee. In 1963 he met his wife Martha on a Greyhound bus and has been happily married for forty-nine years. They have four children, two grandchildren and attend Prairie Hills Covenant Church in Sioux Falls. Roger has had 4 careers: as an engineer and plant manager, starting and owning a business, and working at a Christian Rescue Mission. He retired in 2006 from Citibank. He has two degrees from the University of Minnesota-Business and Electrical Engineering. In 2003 he was one of twenty U.S. Navy dads invited to spend four days with their sons on the USS Michigan Trident Nuclear Submarine on a Tiger Cruise. Roger has authored four other Christian novels: The Hobo, The Road to Gambela, TheTiger Cruise, and The Blizzard, all published by Xulon Press. He writes in the Christian Adventure Romance style.
