Description:
(Subject: European Conflicts & The Napoleonic Wars) Facsimile reprint of 1892 publication. No 33 of a limited edition of 250 copies. A Marshal of France and military leader during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, MacDonald came from a Jacobite family who had fled to France from the island of South Uist. He was related to Flora Macdonald, famed for her part in the escape of Bonnie Prince Charlie. A General of Division in 1794 and Marshal of France in 1809, after Wagram, he campaigned in Germany, Italy, Austria, Spain and Russia. Despite his defeats at the Trebia and the Battle of Katzbach, his capacity for independent command made Napoleon trust him with large commands till the end of his career. (Published: 1987) (Publisher: Worley Publishers) (ISBN: 1869804031) (Pagination: viii + 488pp) (Condition: very good in red boards.) UL-XXXXXX
