About This Item
1943-44. Hardcover. Very Good. Unpaginated sketchbook with 3 b&w and 7 colour illustrations. Most of book not used. Burgundy cloth hardcover has wrinkled cloth. Lieut. C. W. Johnson, R.C.A. signed front free endpaper, and collected these sketches by a variety of artists. At least two views are of Belgium, one of Brugge and one of Antwerpen. An inscription on front page reads "Hier ziet g'het Wapenenden Toren van d'eeuwenoude Scheldestad. Gewettigdrotsch zijnde Sinjaren op dezen onvelprezen Schat." A pencil sketch can be identified as Halsteren, Netherlands. A rear inscription reads "Wie thuis 't geluk niet vinclt, zal het nezgens vinden." A few spots and creases.
