The text is illustrated with black-and-white drawings by John Reynolds. Rose coloured boards with a small black coloured embossed illustration to the lower right-hand corner of the front panel and black coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper, by John Reynolds, with pink, black and green coloured titles to the front panel and pink and black coloured titles to the back strip. A unique interpretation of British history, a satire on text used for history and of the British populations befuddled memory of what they learnt in school. Rubbing of the back strip edges and of the book corners. Cocking of the spine. Staining, moisture, to the lower half of the back strip, the right-hand edge of the rear panel and a little to the lower left-hand corner of the front panel. Light browning of the text block edges and age toning of the pages. The moisture has caused the book colour to run, and, there are three pink stripes to the lower text edge. Previous owners name to the free front end page. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and back strip corners. Heavy sunning and staining to the back strip with stains to the front panel and a complete line of pink colour to the rear panel. Sunning and handling marks are also present. Written by W. C. Sellar and R. J. Yeatman and illustrated by John Reynolds, it first appeared serially in Punch magazine, and was published in book form by Methuen & Co. Ltd. in 1930.
