About This Item

USA: Boncour-Harriman-Aldrich Publishers. Good. 1934. Third Edition. Paperback. "I am concerned only with telling the facts having to do with the moral, physical, and mental disintegration of our nation. I show some of the tricks employed by the Financial interests to dazzle you and your family." - page 9. On page 65 the author paraphrases Mayer Rothschild by saying "Allow me to write and control what people shall read and hear, and I will make a nation of nit-wits and slaves, or, a nation of intelligent and free people." Adding, "If finance were a simple problem, people would understand it; but, for that reason it is kept a very complicated process, full of mystery [using jargon] to make it appear very intricate and capable of being understood only by the master criminals, who have the world in their hands, and are using interest as their only weapon." "[The author] has been in the homes of many millionaires, thousands of homes of the middle class, and slum areas. He is familiar with the criminal element and has been engaged in human research and rehabilitation work. Until the panic came into evidence he was very successful in his own business of real estate together with an understanding of law and banking." - page 7. Presumably, Mr. Mathews' business was extinguished by the Great Depression. 97,[2] pages. Tight and unmarked with average external wear. A sound vintage copy of what was a popular title in its time.; 12mo .
