About This Item
Toronto: Toronto Theatrical Mechanical Association, 1898. An invitation and programme. The programme has paper wrappers, measuring 113mm x 254mm folded once, with colour lithograph to the front, blue print on the verso of the front wrap and recto and verso of the back. Enclosed in the wrappers is a silk version of the invitation, with matching print and illustration that is on the recto of the front wrap; invitation has tassel edges on the top and bottom and is in fine condition without any staining or wear to the fabric. A touch of edgewear to the wrapper, mostly along the top edge. A scarce item in near fine condition. This programme and invitation is for an opera benefit that was held at the Toronto Opera House on February 18th, 1898 for Freemasons of Toronto Lodge No. 11 and the Toronto Theatrical Mechanical Association; some of the performers included in the program were: Miss Berryman, Miss Genie Harlan-Drumeir, Mr. H. N. Shaw, Cara Cameron, Mr. Ashley Miller, Miss Ethel Browning, Miss Helen Byron, Mr. Ralph E. Cummings and T. J. Farron. This benefit was under the patronage of Sir George A. Kirkpatrick and his wife, a prominent Ontario politician. 1898
