About This Item

Atlanta: Georgia Tech, 1953. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Tall Quarto. 457pp illustrated. With the full page photograph of Marilyn Monroe wearing a Georgia Tech Sweater. Though a few sources state that Marilyn Monroe visited Atlanta in 1952 for a Look Magazine photo shoot, and visited Coach Bobby Dodd, the reason given is, because Georgia Tech won the National Championship that year. In reality her connection to Georgia Tech was the idea of Ned West sports information director for the Athletic Association who secured a photograph of Monroe in a Tech sweater for the cover of the 1952 football press guide. "Miss Monroe did not travel to Georgia, so more than likely the sweater and pennant traveled to Hollywood for the photograph. Nevertheless its a scarce item.
