Ottoman Turkish, c. 1830. A fine example of this early printing in the Ottoman Empire. Text is crisp and clean and illumination is vibrant. . Binding: Contemporary full brown calf. Covers with gilt rules and tooled decorations. Spine with tooled decorations. Pasted and free green endpapers. , Notes: Text is printed in Arabic and the last two leaves after the end of the Qur’an are in Persian (two pages of commentary and some poetry). 306 leaves of text with beautifully hand designed and coloured holograph vocalizations in red, illuminated with gold borders and verse divisions of gold dots, sura headings in white in gilt panels (including some with blue borders), geometric devices in margins with gold and polychrome highlights in numerous instances. Two double-page hand illuminations at front, and at the end, featuring wide and intricate floral border in lavender, blue, red, and white on gilt ground, with pink, green and yellow rules.
