New York and London: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1906., 1906.. Good. - Octavo, 7-3/4 inches high by 5-3/8 inches wide. Hardcover, bound in red cloth with a gilt device on the front cover and titled in gilt on the spine. The spine is faded and stained with a minor dampstain to the inner edge of the front cover. iv, [iv], 522 & [1] pages, illustrated with a frontispiece, 7 plates and other illustrations in the text. An early owner's inscription is penned on the front endpaper. There are minor stains to the first few leaves with a tiny chip out from the top corner of the frontispiece. One of the plates is lightly pulled. Good. <p>First edition, first state with no advertisements on the copyright page. [BAL 3492].
