About This Item

London: Sampson Low, Marston and Company. [c.1910]. New and cheaper edition. New and cheaper edition. Publisher's original red cloth with titles in black and pictorial onlay to the upper board, titles and illustration in gilt to the spine. Illustrated with a frontispiece and eight black and white plates by Jules Ferat. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities, a small nick at the head of the spine and the cloth with a few light marks. The contents, with a bookplate to the front endpaper, are toned to the early front and rear pages, lightly foxed throughout and to the text block edge, when closed. An attractice example. The second volume in The Mysterious Island trilogy following 'Dropped from the Clouds' and preceding 'The Secret of the Island'. The first English edition was originally published in 1875. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.
