Bookmark, 132 x 57 mm, offset printed on thin card, recto with colour illustration of one the company's ""Bay"" liners, verso with information about the service to London via Suez, inviting prospective travellers to contact the Dalgety & Co. or Aberdeen and Commonwealth Line office in ""capital cities""; fine. 'The Australian Government formed a shipping company after WWI which became the Australian Commonwealth Line in 1923. The company was bought by Lord Kylsant's shipping empire in 1928, his other companies included White Star Line, Shaw, Savill & Albion, and the Aberdeen Line. The name of the company was changed in 1928 to the Aberdeen & Commonwealth Line as the Aberdeen Line had been engaged in the Australian trade since 1840 and therefore had good associations with the public.
