INSCRIBED by the author, the distinguished film director Lindsay Anderson, in year of publication on the half-title to the wife of the great screenwriter Nunnally Johnson, Dorris Bowdon Johnson- "For Dorris Bowdon Johnson in memory of so much... Thank you. Salut! Lindsay Anderson July '81." Also included is a handwritten letter on Anderson's printed stationary to Mrs. Johnson- "July 15 1981 Dear Dorris Johnson, First thankyou for letting us print Nunnally's letters: There contrasting and authoritative view was indispensible. Of course I am also sending this to Dorris Bowdon who appears not so frequently in the Ford Canon- but always with such sensitivity and fine, intelligent presense. Thankyou, both! Most sincerely, Lindsay Anderson. About fine in pictorial printed wrappers. (10 1/4" X 7 1/4") (256pp. ) illustrated. Nunnally Johnson wrote the screenplay for "The Prisoner of Shark Island", "Tobacco Road", and "The Grapes of Wrath" for which he was nominated for Best Screenplay. Dorris Bowden(Johnson) played the role of "Rose of Sharon" in "Grapes". She also worked for John Ford in "Drums along the Mohawk" & "Young Mr. Lincoln." A splendid association. (LR) .
