About This Item

London: Printed by S. Bridge, 1702. 1st Edition. Leather. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 1st edition. A Fair copy. Lacking the title page. 8vo., (xxviii), 701 pp. Bound in full contemporary paneled calf. The binding is very loose, with the hinges and joints weak and cracking. The spine's leather is dry, with a loss at the crown and foot; boards worn. Front board's hinge has been strengthened with cloth tape, which has been taped onto the first preliminary page, A3. A rebinding copy, in need of a title page(facsimile?). Sold with all faults. *** An abridgement of Richard Baxter's Narrative of my Life and Times, which contains an account of the many ministers who were ejected in 1662 after the restoration of Charles II, their apology, containing the grounds of their nonconformity and practice as to stated and occasional communion with the Church of England; and a continuation of their history until the year 1691. This work was published in 1702. The most important chapter (ix.) is that which gives a detailed account of the ministers ejected in 1662; it was afterwards published as a distinct volume. ***.
