Original green cloth highly decorated in gold on boards. Hinges badly cracked, but covers still attached. Upper half of backstrip torn away from one joint, but present. Inscribed, "To Dr. Lunney, From one of his best friends. The Author. New Years '06." Author's portrait frontispiece as well as a second portrait on second free endpaper. This volume contains articles which were printed first in the London "Month" and the "Canadian Messenger" as well as additional material. Newfoundland, Towards the West, The Western Prairies, Through the Rockies, Seattle, The Russian Domination in Alaska, Failure of Russian Enterprise, The Bering Coast, Council Mining Camp, The Autumn Exodus, Winter Isolation in Alaska, The Alaskan Mail, The Aboriginal Tribes of Alaska, Religion in Alaska, Last Year on the Bering Coast. Lower right corner tips trimmed. Laid in is a newspaper obituary of the author. 307 pp..
