About This Item

South Bend, IN; (1984): University of Notre Dame. Octavo. xxx, 446 pages. Translated by Oliva Blanchette. The French philosopher, whose most influential works, notably L'Action, aimed at establishing the correct relationship between autonomous philosophical reasoning and Christian belief. The French intellectual elite viewed his Christian persuasion as retrogressive. Today most of his critics are unknown and his original 1893 work has been translated by Oliva Blanchett whose 820 page study of Blondel deals in depth with both l'Action and its tradition. A fine copy bound in black cloth, lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt. No names or bookplates.
