About This Item

Washington DC: American People's Mobilization, 1941. Newsletter. 3p., 8.5x11 inch two-color mimeographed sheets stapled at corner, very good. The American Peace Mobilization (APM) was established in 1940 from the remains of the Communist Party-affiliated American League for Peace and Democracy, which had been dissolved in 1939 after the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. APM opposed US aid to the Allies in World War II, but from a Left position rather than a Right-wing isolationist perspective. After the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1940, the organization immediately changed to the American Peoples' Mobilization and supported the war effort. This newsletter outlines the new program for victory against fascism; including a signature-gathering competition.
